Day 293, Hipsters: The obligatory New Year’s Eve champagne shot!
Day 286, Hipsters: Ah, Christmas Eve. I debated on going back to New York for like two months until finally deciding to stay in the city. Christmas Eve took me to a matinee showing of Beauty and the Beast which was adorable and then a bar crawl with my boss. Not a traditional Christmas Eve by any means, but interesting to see how other people celebrate. Like, where I’m from everything shuts down at 4pm on Christmas Eve, save a couple church services. Here, there were people everywhere and an orchestra at Union Square and carolers and people out and about! It was super fun.
Day 196, Hipsters: Boozy dinner turned into six co-workers at Pat O’Briens belting out a pretty impressive (or at least loud) version of ‘Don’t Stop Believin’ along with the dueling pianos. (We’ll save the social commentary on how everyone is looking at their phones in this picture for a different time.) Mmmmm….hurricanes!
Day 156, Hipsters: Saturday night took me to Butter, a white trash themed bar. There was half a Winnebago parked inside, as well as some pretty intense bathroom graffiti (that I totally didn’t realize I’d taken pictures of). My cocktail of choice was a ‘Junkyard Dog’ - Vanilla Vodka & Root Beer, served in an enormous Mason Jar. I had several and they were all delicious.
Day 1073, Clogs: It seems I’ve never before shown you my portable bar kit. It’s about the size of a briefcase and lets you carry everything you need to make a martini (or a Manhattan, in my case) on a picnic. One of my summer to-do list items was to take it out one last time in Nijmegen, and I did that Monday night, which meant cleaning it up Tuesday morning and preparing it for the move home. I received this kit as a present 2 years ago from Dave, who got it from KegWorks.
Day 1069, Clogs: My various cabinets have many ingredients that need to be dealt with before I go. I think some things will get regifted. Are YOU interested in receiving anything in particular? (This offer is only valid for locals.)
Day 1006, Clogs: Happy Hour on the way to Amersfoort
Day 1004, Clogs: A drink while making dinner. I’m annoyed that none of my photographic subjects came out well this evening. Sunset? Nope. Jambalaya? Nope. Martini? This.
Day 995, Clogs: We spent the day cooped up inside catching up on various tv shows and enjoying nice beers I’ve been saving for just such an occasion.
Day 993, Clogs: Dave & Kat toured Amsterdam for the day. I met up with them for drinks after work at Arendsnest.
